Your inheritance in Christ

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Ephesians 1:18 (KJV)

Introduction

Acts 20:32 says the Word gives you an inheritance. Paul prays here that you would see it, because you cannot enjoy what you do not know you have.

Teaching

An inheritance is not earned. It comes to you because of whose family you belong to. In Christ, you have been brought into God's family, and what He has provided belongs to you.

That is why Paul prays for enlightened eyes. Many believers live far below what God has given them simply because they have not yet seen it.

The Word opens your eyes. As you read and pray, the Holy Spirit shows you who you are in Christ and what is yours in Him. Your part is to keep coming to the Word, and to believe what it says.

Reflection

Where have you been living as if you had nothing, when the Word says you have an inheritance in Christ?

Prayer

Father, enlighten the eyes of my understanding. Show me the hope of Your calling and the riches of Your inheritance in the saints. Help me to walk in all that Christ has given me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Confession

I am a child of God. My eyes are open to my inheritance in Christ, and I walk in it.
